This is a short book packed full of encouraging, inspirational declarations and stories. It’s a great daily reminder and teaching of how Christians can receive the promises of God. It’s an easy read. The book covers declarations on blessings, faith, trust, goals, self-worth and general declarations for Christian living. This is a great daily reminder of God’s blessings and goodness. I enjoy Joel Osteen’s outlook on life and his reinforcement on positive thinking as well as others. I watched him on OWN network on Super Soul Sunday with Oprah. Nice daily devotions to stay positive and expect the best in your life. We are what we think and it is always good to be reminded of this with uplifting daily messages or mantras. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

osteen's declarations summon goodness from a God that dispenses blessing rather than wrath, rewards faith with favor, causes strangers to give the faithful "good breaks". i admit that appeals to me. but rewards and special favors for faith don't align with my notion of grace. you know, unmerited favor; the rain on the just and the unjust.
the cloying sweetness of the light-weight writing and even lighter theology sent me scurrying back to the skilled, thoughtful writing of kingsolver to cleanse my palate.
thanks to dallas willard AND Robert Munsch, i'm a universalist and believe everyone goes to heaven who can stand it. i also believe heaven starts here whenever we practice truth, justice, kindness, love, forgiveness. fortunately for mr. osteen, good writing and solid theology are not requisites for living in the presence of the divine.
