A seductive rebel returns to Kristina Douglas's "absorbing world" (RT Book Reviews) of the Fallen with a deadly plan for revenge. Can she trust herself enough . . . As a seer, Martha's visions aren't always reliable, but lately, her erotic dreams are driving her mad, her forbidden lover a dark stranger whose name haunts her: Cain. She knows the Fallen are in danger when the rogue angel unexpectedly appears in tongues of flame and turns his beautiful, wicked eyes on her, sensing everything she most wants to keep hidden. . . . to fall in love with the enemy? For a millennium, Cain has sought revenge for the Fallen's betrayal, and now he has finally returned to destroy their safe, tidy world. Using Martha as an unwitting pawn seems easy enough until Cain finds himself falling in love with her--just when it may be too late to save her from a brutal fate of his own design.… (plus d'informations)

I love this series. I really hope this isn't the last book. ( )

The heroine has always felt like an outsider on the small island housing the fallen angels. Even when her husband was alive she never felt like she belonged but the older man had managed to make her feel loved, even though it was a friendship love. But now that he’s gone, she’s lost in her own head. Plagued with visions that are unreliable at best and dangerously incorrect at worst, she doesn’t even have the ability to help those around her. But when she envisions a man who will arrive on the island and cause great upheaval among them she knows that it’s her duty to report the vision to Raziel. When the hero arrives on their secluded little island of paradise, to say he’s unwelcome is the understatement of the century. Once an inhabitant of the island, the hero betrayed the previous leader and as such a lot of bad blood exists between him and the other fallen. The hero has always been a selfish, self conceited rake who has made an enemy of everyone he's ever met. Now, he’s returned to exact his revenge but he’s sly and extremely intelligent. He knows he can’t just storm to beaches so he devises a plan to slowly and carefully rot the island from the inside out. And because he’s ruthless and willing to do anything to achieve his goals, he sees the lonely single female as a weakness, something he can use. He plays with her insecurities and uses her attraction to him to get close to her. The heroine knows that beneath the charming smile and flirtation, the hero has darkness inside of him. Though she’s attracted to him, she doesn’t trust him. So when he makes it his mission to seduce her, she puts up the wall and tries to stay detached but he makes it so hard. She’s horribly lonely. Never even having experienced love with his older husband so the attentions of a handsome man is something she has to fight to resist. But the hero begins to show a different side of his personality, a kinder side. He begins to catch feelings for the mousy little female whom he once set out to use. These feelings a strange to a man who isn’t used to caring for anyone or anything but when she’s threatened by the very plan he set out, he does everything he can to save her. I loved this story because of the fact that the hero never became that love sick fool falling all over the heroine by the end of the book. The male spent the entire book being this mysterious, sexual yet emotionless enemy and I loved it. It wasn't a passionate sappy love story and it didn't need to be. He loved her yes, that was plainly obvious but he was always a cool customer and kept his emotions and his thoughts tight to his chest. I loved the heroine because she too was very stoic and in many ways the perfect match for the fallen angel who’s an outcast from his fellows. She just wanted to be useless, to be wanted. Other than the god awful ending that seems very rushed and half assed, I thought this was a great story. In fact, I’ve enjoyed all the books in the series and really hope to see more in the future.
