Noah Primeval is a speculative retelling of the beloved story of Noah for a new generation. In an ancient world submerged in darkness, fallen angels rule as gods, and breed giants and monsters. Mankind is enslaved to evil. Noah, a tribal leader, has been prophesied to bring an end to the rule of these "gods" and save humanity from coming destruction. But Noah's wife and son are captives of these dark forces. To rise against this supernatural evil and rescue his family Noah will need an equally supernatural army. But why has God told him to build a huge box out of gopher wood?… (plus d'informations)

I thoroughly enjoyed it. I like Godawa and what he's doing, so I don't want to diss it too much. The narration was forced. You can definitely tell he is a screenwriter. Some plot threads didn't make much sense. But he did a good job on making a fully entertaining novel. It was like watching a Tom Cruise movie, but with serious Recon/Reformed apologetics.

I was a bit hesitant about picking up this series and reading them. To me, it sounded a bit more geared towards a Young Adult crowd, or those more into religious stories, than I am. But I found my self a bit intrigued.

Godawa has made a well-known story from the bible into a sensational action story. Based on facts and strong deductions about biblical history, the story of Noah and how he completed God's Will to build the Ark at the time of the Great Flood. Based on what I remember from Sunday School, this story was so much more interesting than our learnings. I also see that there are a couple other books out, and I think I shall have to read them as well. Any action/thriller reader would love to sit down with this one. ( )

This book, a novel that speculates what it might have really been like in the days of Noah leading up to the flood, was a pleasant surprise. I've long loved topics dealing with esoteric biblical issues but have sadly found that most books in this genre are either poorly written, or so far removed from biblical plausibility to render them unreadable. (Sometimes both.) Not the case here.

The author has an engaging voice and brought the characters wonderfully to life. We don't have enough info to know for sure what the personalities of Noah and Methuselah and others were, but Godawa poses a plausible construction that in no way conflicts with the biblical account. Refreshing.

I'm excited to have discovered a new author to follow, and recommend this book. ( )

hmm, I think i’d place a small bet on the author having played (or at least helped a young person play) Impossible Creatures.

what I liked: totally brave approach to imagining what it might have been like “if” the immortals, angels, fallen, and creatures of myth & the bible were part of a giant antediluvian mashup that’s channeling LOTR & Indiana Jones in a big screen way. I also liked that in the midst of all this horses were introduced and their growing popularity is a way of marking the passage of time.

what didn’t work for me : there are some real “whiplash moment” scene changes where things are just dropped - these abrupt changes will leave you wondering.

the character development was not what kept me turning the pages but the action and bigger than life imaginging of what it might have been like made up for it

I liked the spin on this version of Noah. Very realistic. You must read it! ( )
