The North of Thailand is emerging as a standalone, off-the-beaten-path destination in the otherwise well-traversed Southeast Asia travel route. With the northern mountains covered in verdant jungle and sprinkled with age-old hill tribes, elephant camps, and ancient ruins, it is no wonder that the North is becoming an unforgettable experience for travelers. The plethora of sights and activities to see and do in Thailand is simply amazing. We have spent the past seven years rummaging around this pocketed-away nation and we still feel like we have not been able to experience all there is to do in Thailand. For this reason, we decided our first title had to be a regional undertaking: a guidebook that focused specifically on the North of Thailand!
Northern Thailand is a treat and more than warrants a book all to itself. In compiling this, we ourselves were happy to revisit many of our favorite mountaintop locales, amazing rivers, streams and hot springs, and noteworthy countercultural bars, pubs and local hangouts. We were also very surprised to learn about so manynew interesting and exciting things to do here.

"There are more than a few night markets in Northern Thailand, but this one blows them all out of the water in terms of tasty dishes proffered and tantalizing trinkets sold. This is a Thai night market at its best!"

Being your guide through the green-wet mountains and hilltops of Northern Thailand has been a pleasure. We hope that you have enjoyed the adventure and are eager to return—if not settle down altogether—in the North of Thailand. We wish you all the best on your continuing travels. And, as we said in the beginning, do not forget to send out those postcards!
