captures my feelings perfectly -- loved this series as a youth, am appalled by the sexist stereotyping as an adult, prefer to remember it fondly and not re-experience it. Alas. ( )

I have always enjoyed Piers Anthony's books but I had never read this series. As a whole I quite enjoyed this series of books. I found the characters and story to be clever and interesting. It sort of reminded me of a more adult version of a Rick Riordan series of books. ( )

My rating looks good from when I entered this series, having reread them countless times and enjoyed thoroughly. Time to reread so I can comment. Reread 2018 - Yes it is as good as I remembered. The characters the writer creates are interesting and the story detailed. I realized with this book that the parts that dragged for me were the Satan ones. Any time his character is present and talking ...I am yawning and flipping pages. I loved the world created in these books. The first time through they were mesmerizing and I gave them five stars. This time the things that didn't hold me were more noticeable...that could be a factor of age, after all I first read this book in 1985...people change. But it is still a worthwhile read 30 years later. ( )

Re-read 2018

The first of the books about the female Incarnations, this one deals with Fate in all of her aspects. I can't say much about it because there are spoilers for both the earlier books and future books in the series. My only issue is that the main character sees herself as a delicate female even after assuming part of the aspect of fate. She just can't see just how tough and capable she is even when doing some bad a** things. ( )

piers Anthony is a male chauvinist. seriously! "she knew she could weave,she was a woman". i thought i could be non-judgmental, cant help it when things keep repeating, like objectification and generalization. ( )
