I was really looking forward to this novella ever since Suz announced it was being released as an ebook. I really like Tony, and was interested in getting a more balanced view of Adam.

Minor quibbles: I wish it were longer (okay, yes, novella. I get it); I hate the cover (I do not need half-naked men on covers, thank you very much. If this had been a paperback book, I probably would not have read it as fast, since I read on the train, and with that on the cover, that book would have never left the confines of my condo); I wanted more of the other characters (again, yes, novella).

Not so minor quibble: I still don't like Adam. He was more human, yes, and he had a back story that explained why he was such an asshole in previous books. But I fully believe that a bad past is no reason to have a bad present, and that you can either use your history as an excuse for dragging yourself down or you can move beyond it. Adam did the first and suddenly after meeting Tony changes for the better - I found that a little hard to believe, especially given just how long he's followed his modus operandi of use 'em and lose 'em, and to hell with everyone else. I definitely enjoyed the story more after I did some mental gymnastics and compartmentalized this Adam from the Adam whose balls I wanted to kick in from the other books.

I did like this more than Breaking the Rules. ( )

Sweet. Wonder why she decided to release this as a stand-alone short story rather than as part of a longer book? ( )

So sexy and terribly romantic and just a damn cool read. I hope she has more of this up her sleeve :) ( )

Hum...I know that everyone deserves a happy ending and I can understand what Suzanne did here but....I'm sorry for Adam, I can understand why he did what he did but, I don't like him.
I know that this is a short story and it was ok to read but I found it lacking a little something (maybe because I don't like Adam character). ( )

When Tony Meet Adam (short story)
Troubleshooters series 12.5

Adam Wyndham & Tony Vlachic

Takes place right after "All Through the Night" (Robin & Jules' wedding story). Adam Wyndham meets Navy SEAL Tony Vlachic outside of the guys' house after being not-so-subtly ejected from the premises by Sam Starrett. Tony introduces himself and there is an immediate attraction but Adam walks away saying he is nursing a broken heart (Robin marrying Jules). They get together a month later right before Tony has to go out of the country. Adam is a complete jerk to Tony insisting it will only be a one-night stand (and then get out). Tony is certain he can eventually break down Adam's walls because he sees something in him that no one else on the planet sees. Tra la la la la, that's what happens eventually.

I thought Tony was awesome and Adam still an incredibly selfish jerk. Their story was rushed due to the length of the book and didn't give enough to make me believe Adam could truly change. Good for him that he did. Now maybe we won't have to be bothered by him trying to mess up things between Robin and Jules. ( )
