I loved this entire series. It was full of adventure, mysterious creatures, and a young adventurer who was on a quest to change his life. I would definitely recommend this for middle-level readers or adults who enjoy a good quest! ( )

A great sequel to the first book in the series, the writing has gotten much better to digest (it feels less geared towards younger children) and we follow Alex on yet another exciting adventure, but this time he's more comfortable in his own skin. He's had wizard training, he's got one grand adventure under his belt, and he is just now opening his eyes to his potential. We meet many new and interesting characters on this new adventure and I like how it is now steering away from the similarities of The Hobbit that we saw in the first book.

Would definitely recommend if you liked the first book! ( )

I loved this book. It is a simple read but such fun. It is a D&D type adventure at its finest no serious plot twists, just a straight forward adventure story. ( )
