"There's never a dull moment with these dragons. Fighting! Mayhem! Danger! . . . a fun read" from the New York Times bestselling author (Vampire Book Club).

I was raised for battle. And as the first daughter of a warrior family, I've earned my reputation the hard way. Yet now I fight alongside uncivilized male Northland dragons who think a female is only good for breeding and waiting back home in the cave. But it's the foolish and foolhardy who would try to stop me, Rhona the Fearless, from doing what I do bestâ??destroying the enemies of my kind.
So the smartest thing wily barbarian Vigholf the Abhorrent can do for me is stay out of my way as we risk all on a deadly mission in enemy territory. I don't care if he's fascinated by me, even though he is as attractive as he is resourceful. He's having far too much fun putting me in difficult situations and testing my sense of duty to the limit. And I'm going to enjoy challenging his insufferable confidence, outwitting his schemes, and making him surrender in the wildest ways . . .

The Dragon Who Loved Me picks up five years after the last book, with Fearghus leading the dragon troops and Annwyl leading her humans in a long and exhausting war. This book follows Rhona the Fearless (daughter of Bradana and one of the infamous Cadwaladr dragons - although she's a lot less bloodthirsty than the rest) and Vigholf the Abhorrent, brother to Ragnar the Cunning and one of the Northland purple lightning dragons.

I really liked Rhona and I loved Vigholf. I would've easily said this was my absolute favourite book ever. And then it happened. Izzy appeared and Rhona became a right and utter bitch and any feelings I had for how great she was just vanished. My rating went up again but it kind of soured me for longer than it probably should. See - I adore Izzy. I think she's amazing. She's like a younger version of Annwyl but slightly less mad. But the whole plot with her and Eihbear shits me. Eihbear has turned into a complete and utter ass and Izzy deserves better. And I really hated the whole fighting thing between Eihbear and Celyn - it's been five years, get over it. And really it's kind of Aiken's fault. She has me so invested in these characters that I'm rather bitter when the plot doesn't go their way.

Anyway.

Until that point I was fully rooting for Rhona and Vigholf. Vigholf was adorable trying to woo her. And Rhona was likeable too. Until Izzy. And until she started doubting Annwyl. I mean really? She's a soldier who always follows orders - but this is the point she decides to think for herself? It irritated me.

The rest was fantastic. I loved Annwyl. I loved that she's like the wolf licked my head and now I feel better. Lol bloody wolf gods. It had me in hysterics how mad they all think she is. I loved the relationship between Annwyl and Izzy and Branwen. I adored the twins. Talan and Talwyn and Rhi were freaking hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing when Briec finds out what they've been up to and he's just like oh fk. It gets worse. And worse. And worse. The plot is action packed and fast paced and had me on the edge of my seat. 4.5 stars, rounded to 5. ( )

Even though the main characters aren't my favourite I do think this book is one of my favorties of the series.

Somehow, the bundle this was in - books 3-5 - placed this, book five, ahead of the others. Still managed to stand on its own, and an excellent read. ( )

Rhona and Vigholf... I didn't really have a lasting impression of Rhona before this book, but I did of Vigholf and I was happy to see another Lightning get a book so soon. It was quite a roller coaster of a story though, with so much war and scary things going on in the sidelines of their romance. We get to see how the twins and Rhian have grown and a bit of what they are capable of. We get to see some more of Keita and Ragnar along with most of the characters from all the previous books. We even get to see the gods messing with the family again. At the end, we finally learn what had sent Eibhear off the deep end and I'm VERY anxious for his book! ( )
