Summary:

Snow White and the seven dwarfs is a classic story about a beautiful young lady who worked hard in a castle and was noticed by the handsome prince. However, the wicked queen becomes jealous of this beautiful young lady because her magic mirror tells her she is not the prettiest that Snow white is and she orders a huntsman to take her out to the forest and kill her. The huntsman doesn't have the heart to do it and lets her go in the forest. Snow white is taken in by seven dwarfs with very different personalities. She begins taking care of them and they become a family. When the queen finds out she is not dead she poisons Snow white with an apple and only the kiss of her true love the prince can awaken her and it does.

Personal reaction to this book:

Personally I really like this book. It definitely is a fun attention getting story. It has so many different parts to the book that it holds a child attention for the duration of the story. It also has some good learning aspects to it as well.

Extension ideas:
1. I could use this book to teach children about blended families and adoptions because snow white is taken in by 7 very different individuals and becomes a new loving family.
2. I could also use this book to teach children about being cautious because some people aren't always what they seem. For example the old lady that seemed sweet and harmless gave Snow white the apple that harmed her and in reality the sweet old lady was a wicked queen. ( )

This book is a classic. The tale of a princess who is hated by the Queen. The Queen gets very angry when the mirror on the wall says that Snow White is the fairest of all. The Queen wants to kill Snow white, but she doesn't succeed. Snow White ends up living with some dwarfs that live in the forest.
I have always loved this book. Good over Evil is the best in my opinion. This story was told to me when I was a young girl, that was almost 35 years ago. My favorite part is the ending of course, and the dwarfs are so cute.
In my class room we could talk about the many descriptive words that are in the story. Just the names of the dwarfs is a great start. We could also talk about the fact that this story is very old and a huge part of literary history.

Snow White is a Princess who gets treated like a servant by her stepmother. Is has to scrub floors and clean. She dreams of one day meeting a prince who will take her away. Her step mother always talked to the mirror on the way asking who was the fairest of them all. One day instead of hearing what she wanted to hear the mirror said Snow White! She went into a jealous rage. She ordered snow white to be killed in the forest. The man didn’t have the heart to kill her so he told her to run. She found a little cottage in the woods. She went in and it was a mess. She cleaned it and fell asleep. The seven dwarfs came home and to there surprise the found her in there bed. The queen found out she was alive and poisoned apple and tried to get her to eat it. The dwarfs knew she was in danger and tried to hurry home. The found her on the floor. A prince heard of her story and came to see. He kissed her.

This book is good. It has a lot of really good pictures in it and it has a lot of different personalities in it. I like it because it is a fantasy book.

I would use it in my class to take up time or just to go over the genre traditional fantasy.
