Beautiful descriptions of a loving marriage, the challenges of parenthood and family relationships, and life in France. I felt like I went on a little vacation while reading this book. The setting was vivid. I felt I was in Provence - a place I have never been to and most likely never will be. That is the pleasure of well-written fiction. You get to live somewhere else for the duration of the read. The setting was essential to the story, and was, in a way, another character. This was a fun, fast read. It was hard for me to get into the story at first. It took them a while to get to Provence, but the story picked up there. I think I liked Abbot and Charlotte the best. One problem was that the author got the time difference backwards when Heidi wanted to call her mom. France is six hours ahead of Florida, not behind. She should have called her in the evening. Maybe this isn't a big deal, but it bugged me. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Brokenhearted, still mourning the loss of her husband, Heidi travels with her son Abbott and her niece Charlotte to spend the summer repairing their family home in a small village in the south of France. There, thousands of miles from home, Charlotte makes a shocking confession, and Heidi learns the truth about her mother's "lost summer." Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
