The more I read the more I knew how the book would end. This book may of been published recently, but I have read this book in the past. I enjoyed the book, but this publishing is not the first time it has been out. I gave it one star not because it was a bad book but because it has been published before just the names have changed. ( ) NEVER TRUST A ROGUE by Olivia Drake is a delightful historical romance set in Regency England. It is fast paced, page turning with depth and details. It is the second in An Heiress in London novel but can be read as a stand alone. Book One( Seducing the Heiress). It has romance, suspense, passion, sensuality, love, wit, adventure, and murder. The hero, Thane, is handsome, ex military,an earl, working with the Bow Street Runners to find a murderer, keeps hidden from everyone and sexy. The heroine,Lindsey, is beautiful, a heiress, curious, wishes to become a detective, and does not want to marry.Enter Thane, then things start to heat up between them. Thane quickly begins to be engrossed with Lindsey. When she seeks into his house, he catches her and blackmails her into a betrothal. Lindsey's mother has other ideas for she wants her middle daughter to marry a duke, no matter the consequences to her daughter. Lindsey is determined to get information on a series of murders commited on maidservants in the area. Keep her involvement with Thane a secret. Elude the man her mother wants her to marry. Lindsey know some of what he is and wants no part of the arrangement. Sparks fly between Thane and Lindsey. They soon realize their feelings for each other.Thane is always rescueing Lindsey from the clutches of the disgraceful Duke. Together, Lindsey and Thane find the real killer the Serpentine Strangler.I would highly recommend this book especially if you enjoy adventure, susense, sweet sensuality and romance. This book was received for review and details can be found at St. Martin's Paperbacks and My Book Addiction and More. Disappointing. The difficulty between the hero and heroine is introduced in the first few pages of the book and could be resolved with two sentences of conversation. It takes 80 pages for that conversation to take place. By that point, we have another difficulty between the hero and heroine which is equally inane. There are a lot of subplots that could have been more developed and used to strengthen the relationship between the two (the hero's ward, the hero's past, his relationship with his family, the heroine's suitors, the heroine's unconventional background, working together on the aforementioned difficulties). This was just a sloppy book. While not quite a TSTL heroine, she was pretty close. I may have given up on this series... aucune critique | ajouter une critique

The wealthiest heiress of the season, Miss Lindsey Crompton finds detective work far more fascinating than social engagements--at least until she meets Thane Parker, the Earl of Mansfield. Thane is a paradox: a war hero and a cad, a wicked scoundrel and an indulgent guardian of his young ward. When Lindsey sneaks into his house to investigate his role in a series of murders, he blackmails her into a betrothal. Thane has a secret life he keeps hidden from everyone, especially the infernally curious--and curiously alluring--Miss Crompton. Working with the Bow Street Runners, Thane is tracking a killer who may be one of Lindsey's suitors. Even if their engagement is a ruse, the heat between Thane and Lindsey is undeniably real. And with a murderer on the loose, desire has never been so dangerous... Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
