Less of a guide to places to visit and more of a guide to "avoiding" undesirable places. Though more than a few of the entries descend into silliness, for example no one can ever be in Mexico when the asteroid strikes that wipes out the dinosaurs, those ones are entertainingly written and enjoyable to read. In addition, to the author's own views, there are also stories included from travels writers and other tales of warning. A fun read for all persons who have ever travel anywhere. However, I will happily agree that I do not need to see a place where Americans have all left their gum on a wall. Yuck! On the other hand a lot of the things she mentions are really just boring. ( )
