I'm not necessarily going for 75 books this year, just would like to keep track of what I'm reading and when.
My own rules for reading this year
1. Don't rush any books
2. Don't neglect actual work that needs to get done for recreational reading (that's gonna be a tough one)
3. Books for school count
4. Don't turn into a hermit.
5. Join at least one book club
I'm currently reading
"The Green Lake is Awake" by Joseph Ceravolo (poetry)
"The Other Boleyn Girl"
"Jane Eyre" by Charlotte Bronte
"The Dew Breaker" by Danticat
This year I'd really like to read
"If on a Winter's Night a Traveler" by Italo Calvino
"Tender is the Night" by F. Scott Fitzgerald
"Modern Man in Search of a Soul" by Carl Jung
"River Town" by Peter Hessler
"Animal Farm" by George Orwell
"A Streetcar Named Desire" by Tennessee Williams
"Lolita"
"The White Tiger"
"Counselor" by Ted Sorensen
"Society and its Discontents" by Sigmund Freud
I've already read Franny and Zooey and The Sound and the Fury this year
Welcome to the group!
Thanks...I just joined librarything...extremely overwhelming but I can't stop smiling. If only I wasn't so tired I could figure this all out tonight...
If you have any questions, just ask! We are a pretty friendly bunch.
Thanks!
Welcome! Nice plan for reading.
That's a great list! And do watch out - I think I spend more time reading posts here than I do reading my books!
I'm already falling into that trap, ffortsa.
I like your guidelines! Except for the one about being a hermit. It's my life's ambition to become a hermit.
It would be way too easy for me to become a hermit, that's why I have to make a rule avoiding it. Self reflection etc is great but I know that I still have a lot to learn from other people, so I can't shun them just yet haha
