I've got my voice back and I can sing again! Yay!

Good News: I don't go back to school until Wednesday.
Bad News: I go back to school on Wednesday! :O
Good News: I think I will be able to meet with friends these last couple days and possibly go out for ice cream and use my gift cards!

BN: Cold. Cold. Cold.
GN: Down comforters.

BN: Another 3 days and counting on my latest head/earache. Ugh.

GN: It began snowing again last night. So pretty. School is cancelled tomorrow. Which is great because another day to recover from this head/earache. It's not much snow, but if you guys remember we get ice underneath our snow. Our hills and curvy roads are dangerous to navigate when that happens.

I have a puppy curled up next to me, which is always good news.

Puppies and down comforters are, indeed good news. I plan to combine those two factors shortly.

GN: I've had a pretty good day today! Went to see some friends this morning, went to Half-Price Books (and actually only spent $1.74 more than I got for trade-ins) this afternoon, then went out to a movie this evening.
BN: The itinerary above involved a lot of driving, and I am sooo tired right now.

GN: I get my new school books tomorrow
BN: Work meeting tonight whcih means I will be getting home an hour and a half later than usual.

GN: Paris in almost 5 months.

G/B news: My boss will be going on vacation so I'm going to be responsible for closing the store without any assistance for the first time one of those nights. Wish me luck on Thursday! The paperwork part is getting easier but I always have key trouble (any key for any door, anywhere) so that and running on time are the biggest things I'm antsy about.

GN: 66 degrees and sunny in Santa Cruz today.
BN: I'm at work.

BN: I am completely dead right now. For the past two days I've had 1 hour of cross-country skiing practice after school and today I had dance after that. Plus, we're doing fitness testing in gym, which means I get really tired before practice to start with.
GN: I'm getting better at skate-skiing though!
GN: The past few days have been marvelous so I'm very happy bout that!

GN: The Christmas tree is no longer in the house!
BN: It has left traces of itself that will, no doubt, remain as long as the house exists.
GN: Espy and I did some rearranging in the living room that gives us at least the illusion of slightly more space.
BN: Not quite finished with the rearranging/cleaning/putting the last of the Christmas decorations away.

I wish my sisters would want to hang out!! You and lefty - and bib, mandy, and holly - have such great relationships with each other. It makes me happy. My sisters and I are close, but my full sisters would never dare suggest hanging out. :P

B/G news: My grandfather fell and put his head partly through his bedroom door today but he's been to his doctor who says he's okay.

Good news: I got my new keys for locking my store and they work great! The practice run of tomorrow night went perfectly tonight, including timing. I'm completely ready for tomorrow night! :)

BN: It's snowing really bad today.
BN: We didn't have a delay, cancellation or anything for school. For the record, the roads are very treacherous (sp?). My car was sliding almost every time I turned.

GN: I volunteer at the Humane Society for a class and I went to the humane society and they told me I could just leave because they were about to close. So I get to hang out at my house until about 12:20.

You should have walked, mindy! How far is it, ten miles? You could have created wonderful "suck it up" memories for your future children! (When I was a kid, they NEVER canceled school! I walked to school during blizzard conditions and swam through snowdrifts that were as high as my nose...)

Here's a good one. When I was in high school, we wrote our homework by hand in these things called homework planners that the school provided us with. Today my kid sister, a high school freshman, writes her homework in her iphone. When I was in high school, if we were really good students, we wrote our class notes by hand in notebooks that were bound in spirals. When we were slightly worse students, we wrote our class notes by hand on loose leaf. Today my kid sister writes her class notes (yes) in her iphone. It's amazing how things change over eight years. (Why do teachers not take those phones away from students, I wonder, and when did this become acceptable?)

BN: The interviews didnt' go as well as I planned today.
GN: I have a second interview for the marketing job on wednesday.
BN: Tired and I can't go to sleep until at least 830

BN: Tonight's introduction of peas did NOT go over well.
GN: He has plenty of other accomplishments to celebrate: sitting up, first tooth (just barely, started coming in last Sunday), and consistently sleeping 10-12 hours at night.

#38 K, that's really strange they can use their iPhone. Everyone has to write their notes and homework on paper... so maybe the teacher just thinks it's an iTouch or something.... who knows.

grk, I have never met the baby that liked peas right away. Try carrots or sweet potato. ;o) You should also try reintroducing it every few months, as their tastes change as they grow. My kids all enjoyed frozen peas when they were teething. My seven year old still likes eating frozen peas and string beans.

#38 K: Progressive schools are getting with it and meeting kids where they learn. Our district/state is not there yet (unless you're in a private school), but the Leadership Academy is teaching the teachers who go through that we need to change our way of thinking. I agree. Set some limits, but meet the kids where they are.

GN: No school today because of icy roads.
BN: Don't know about school tomorrow yet. The main roads are better, but I don't know about the side streets since I didn't get out on them. Our district won't decide until early in the morning. :( Which means I have to get up early to find out.
GN: We've had 2 days of school this week, maybe 3 if we go tomorrow.

BN: It's cold. 1 degree right now. Feels like -15.

grk: we haven't had much luck with peas either. really any puree. Adara much prefers chunks of banana, avacodo, sweet potato. stuff she can pick up and mash in her fingers.

I heard from suge. She says hi, that she misses everyone and also hopes that she can talk to everyone again soon. Her computer has a virus - which actually, would fall under bad news.

One possibility: you might be able to find your favorite fragrance on eBay and stock up on it--my sister did that after her favorite was discontinued.

GN: School district was delayed for 2 hours so we don't open until 10, which means more time for me to sew!!

K, ebay has some things you bid on and some things (labeled "buy it now") with set prices. Auctions are for bids. It isn't too difficult. They try pretty hard to be user-friendly.

Vaguely Embarrassing News: The Guitar Hero controllers now officially have made our living room look like a game store. Between the Vsmile, PS3, PS2, 2 PSPs, 2 DSs, and ALL the controllers, wireless controllers, controller charger cords, games, GAMES and more GAMES, Rob and I can no longer deny we have a money pit addiction that we are passing on to our offspring.

K: I'm partial to Black Raspberry Vanilla. They've told us twice in the last few years that the scent was being canceled, but what they really meant was repackaged. I only use the hand soaps, hand sanitizers, and the perfumes. I really do like the new Twilight Woods scent, and bought the fragrance mist since they were out of the perfume.

A package arrived from our sweet, kind, and talented Lefty today. She sent me curtains which she sewed for me! I'm so excited. They're positively beautiful! Photos will follow in the correct thread perhaps tomorrow!

Also, lefty, when I wrote you, I forgot to say how unbelievably hard it is with such crazy window dimensions! The designers of the house I live in were mad. Never have I seen any in stores that would fit. These look so much better than those, too! Big thanks again! *Hugs*

Bad News: I may have turned the white pants of my son's taekwondo uniform...pink. I am working on getting out the stain. So far, no good. How much bleach can I use before the fabric starts disintegrating?

Good News: I figured out who I saw at a movie set in Tarrytown last week. It was Keanu Reeves. Apparently he's filming a movie there called Henry's Crime. I recognized the face but couldn't attach it to a name. Catbastet was with me, but she was only looking at his coat and the travel mug he was carrying. She really liked his coat.

BN: I'm getting sick =( I'm trying not to eat too much so my stomach doesn't get angry with me.

BN: I'm dead tired.

GN: Even though it's 10:20, I will be going to bed soon.

GN: I didn't do anything today. It was nice.

Bad news: i'm getting a cold. i lost my voice yelling at a wreastling meet. and i had to walk home, in the cold.

Very good news: My friend, who i really like, told me today he likes me and wants to take me out on a date. the date? go to the park and have a snowball fight then go to his house for a movie. :

Funny news: He's 32 years old :P
BN: Lots of traffic in my city because of a procession that we do with a virgin (the divine sheperdist).
GN: I am going with my friends to the procession.
BN: Right now, I am hating my country...we are having problems with water, electricity, security...but let's not turn this into a rant...

GN: Rex slept through the night! He's teething, and has been waking up at least once between 3-5am the past few nights. But this morning, he didn't stir until 3 minutes before my alarm went off!
GN: Since he woke me before the alarm, I didn't hit the snooze and got in my third early morning workout in a row!
G/BN: I'm starting to feel the effects of the workouts...

GN: Adara only woke up for one middle of the night feeding. usually it's 3-4, sometimes as many as 7-8

BN: the antibiotic I'm on has egg in it. I'm alleric to egg, so it's making my stomach hurt

GN: I have a full-time job starting Feb. 1!
BN: That means I have to quit my job at the library which is a pretty nice gig.
GN: I've done everything possible to get my Visa for my trip to Russia next month.
BN: It was incredibly expensive, and I don't know if I made any stupid mistakes that will keep things from going through.

Congrats on the job Espy! and fingers crossed for your trip!

GN: I actually finished everything I had to do at work today with 15 min. to spare!
BN: Still plenty to do tomorrow!

Good news: I'm getting a lot of cleaning done today.
Bad news: The screws that came with my curtain rod are misplaced somewhere. I know I put them aside somewhere months ago so that I'd "be able to find them later." Yet another day must pass before I can put up the curtains from lefty.

I don't know if any of our new mommies use Happy Tots baby food but there is a recall: Nurture Inc,. is recalling select HappyTot Stage 4, and HappyBaby Stage 1 and Stage 2 pouch meals, with date codes expiring between November 2010 and January 2011.

The company has received one report of swollen and leaking pouches, which could indicate contamination.

The recalled pouches were sold nationwide

Just wanted to make sure :)

GN: It is friday and I am looking forward to a wonderful weeked cause the weater is supposed to cooperate for at least today and tomorrow!

Espy: Congrats on the new job!

K: You'll find them when you give up looking for them and buy new ones. At least that's what always happens to me.

GN: I took in my car for it's first "check up". The guy in the dealership who checked me in said I needed to wait until my oil life was 15% (it was 60%). He said since I don't drive tons that I would get more out of my service if I waited. However, the dealer that I spoke to said it was best to have it in for it's "check up" at least every 6 months. I have free service from the dealership for 5 years, so I'm coming in at least every 6 months until my service runs up.

GN: Went to BDalton and Barnes & Noble last night afterwards. Found several books at BDalton (they close Saturday).
BN: I couldn't find any of the books on my list in B&N. The website said they were in stock, but I couldn't find them. No one was around to help, so I {gasp} left without buying anything..... I know...I was shocked too.
RGN: It's Friday!
GN/BN: I was asked a few months ago to teach a technology workshop on our inservice day Monday. Not a problem. Do it all the time. I was expecting to teach one session for 1-2 hours. I looked at the schedule for the day and I'm teaching 3 sessions for an hour each on that topic, and teaching on a different topic for 2 hours. Wasn't expecting that. Oh well.

Gotta go, bell just rang.

BN: Foggi is away for the weekend.
GN: She's at ALA Midwinter which means she'll bring back lots of awesome ARCs.
BN: Had to get up at 5 this morning to take her to the airport.
GN: Got to go back to sleep for a few hours after I got home.
BN: I'm still tired.
GN: This is my Saturday off!

Renald- I HATE messing with banks! Luckily I have been with the same one so long I get the super nice treatment whenever I call. LOL I know that it is the super nice treatment because they always say "Oh, I see you have been with us for 15 years. I'll take care of this right now!" I must have a star next to my name or something. Too bad for them I'm always broke... I wonder why I don't get the star taken away?

Mindy- Great job on the test!

Grkmwk- Teething is hard! But it's usually not too bad after they get one on top and on bottom. Those first ones though are the pits. 8(

Rissa- Wow- You must be really sensitive to egg! I'm lucky that Theo sleeps from about midnight to seven most nights *knock on wood*. He isn't the best napper, though.

Espy- Congrats on the new job! Very exciting/nerve wracking, I bet.

Kerian- I do that all the time! I'm always saying, "But I put it somewhere I WOULDN'T lose it, I swear!" LOL

MsBella- Thanks for the warning! I don't use store bought food right now but I'll tell my other mommy friends who might. Hope you weekend is good 8)

BN: Jason was up all night sick, which means I'm taking care of Adara plus my roommates 22 month old without any help. not so bad normally, but my mouth hurts and I haven't gotten a chance to eat anything yet.

Great news: My bookshelf is built! My sister's boyfriend took pity and decided to help me, so my sister helped as well. My sister even made dinner afterward, which isn't something she does.
Other great news: My mother gets tomorrow off work, too, so it will be even better. My sisters, mother and I are making plans. (Going to a hardware store for screws is on that list! :)

GN: I hopefully won't have to spend all weekend preparing. Three of the sessions are the same thing, but something new for me to teach. Basically I get to go through a bunch of websites I use when teaching or planning and tell people how to use them. Of course there are many, and won't be able to fit them all in during the hour I have. The 2nd course is one I've taught in the past: How to create and manage a website. It's not something new for me, but something I wasn't really planning on.

GN: Tomorrow lefty and I are going to have a sister's day with the other two sister's who aren't on LT (Megan and Michelle). My mother will also be coming even though she's not technically a sister... lol

GN: I have all weekend ahead of me to get stuff done.
BN: The weekend doesn't start for another 50 minutes.
BN: I'll probably manage to procrastinate my weekend away anyway.
GN: At least it'll be fun.

GN: Sister day tomorrow! :D I admit, Bib, you and Mandy were at least partially inspirational in this.

GN: Today has been quite lovely. I have spent the day reading, quilting, and knitting (though not all three at once). I think I will end it with more reading.

GN: Most of the people at the show tonight really enjoyed it.

BN: The one guy who didn't really enjoy it was the important one from the Edinburgh Festival...

GN: Bib is right, opening night went very well, and I was proud of Bib and her song!! Everyone did a great job!! The quick changes went extremely well. And to my happiness, when the main characters came out for the final scene, there was a gasp from the audience for those final costumes. Made me happy.

K, how are you sane? I hope you get good time off during the week to make up for your lack of Saturdays off!

Bad News: The things we will do for our pets. The poor anole has had another brush with death and I'm trying to help keep her warm and feed her, which involves smearing banana baby food on my hand. Ick.

Very Bad News: The lizard might be blind now. I'm waiting for her to heal (one of our cats grabbed her out of my daughter's hands) but right now both lids are closed and she's made no attempt to open them.

Good News: She's still alive and moves around pretty well, even if she does keep trying to take blind leaps from my hand.

BN- Missie is getting ready to go visit her dad which means I lose my helper. One of us amuses the baby while the other cleans.

BN: I've had a very boring weekend so far, and I should really get studying for a grammar test tomorrow.

MEM, which of you gets to amuse the baby and which of you has to do the cleaning? Because I'm suddenly imagining Missy wielding a feather duster in one hand and pushing a vacuum with the other while mom sits on the floor playing with the baby. It's what I would do. :o)

LOL- Well, it's divide and conquer in this house. I do the kitchen and everything from the waist up except the dining room table. Missie, and to a lesser point Cole, does everything from the waist down and we divide laundry (I wash and fold, Missie puts away). Missie does like to dress up and pretend- something- while she cleans most of the time. So she will be picking up the living room with a cape and maybe a towel tied on her person and she makes funny faces and noises at Theo while dancingcleaning. Then when I'm done with the kitchen, I'll fold laundry while flicking it in over Theo's head. AND that is how my house gets sorta clean.
And yes I know at six months Theo probably should be able to amuse himself for at least a little while but he insist that he can't. 8) Maybe next month.

VBN: Ugh, I just remembered that I have a grammar unit test tomorrow, *oh what a coincidence* it's on the hardest unit (to me anyways.) I've decided that my brain does not like prepositions and participial phrases and all that stuff, it's jusst too much! :o(

Good news: Apparently it was only just approved, but indeed approved, last week that my old supervisor will definitely not be with my store anymore, which is sad but good news for me.

G/B news: My boss says my contract is being extended, that there's a possibilty I may get the position permanately, and that our DM is hunting down others from outside my store to be considered as well.

GN: I ahev just come back from the theatre. Stunning production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. The whole cast was fantastic, but James Earl Jones in the role of Big Daddy was just incredible. One of those performances you feel priveledged to have seen. Wow.

GN: We were given an "upgrade" from cheap seats in the second balcony to second row of the orchestra stalls.

BN: I've worked in theatre ticketing long enough to know that you give that sort of upgrade when the show isn't selling very well. I fear it may close earlier than the scheduled April. I do hope this is not the case - it's just brilliant.

GN: I might actually finish knitting JP's birthday/Christmas present before Mother's day! Of course, now that I've said that I've probably jinxed myself...

GN: I played a funny joke on my sister. I found an old ad for Verizon and it had a Blackberry Storm on it. There was a piece that came off of the ad and it was just a paper Storm and so I sent her a picture of it and was like "I got a Storm!" (she has the same phone). She still thinks I have a Storm... it'll be funny to tell her. ((I realized after typing that that it's not that funny. It's probably one of those "You have to be there" things)).

BN: Calc all night. boo.

Still? I'm glad you've not submitted to that silly semi-false sense of security (if I make sense) from having a cell phone with you. It's a bit crazy how we were all just fine leaving home without them before we had them, and now? I'd never dream of leaving home without mine.

Good news: Me,too is sleeping a lot less, one of the best ways we have to tell us that he's feeling better.

Now I'm just worried about making sure he stays happy while cooped up in a cage. We have many play sessions ahead of us, as careful as we may have them with his bad hips and back legs. Thankfully he's a long-haired cat because he loves to be groomed.

GN: I played Scrabble on facebook with my sister-in-law and only lost by 25 points (I was expecting to lose by at least 50 points, if not by 100)

B & FN: I was told yesterday that 19 people applied for the S.I.T. position and that since I have not been in my current job for atleast 6months that I would not be interviewed! Even though I have every qualification they asked for and relevant work experience! uuugghh! Personally the vibe I got was that if I were to get the job they didn't want to deal with the possible lash back that may occur from some of the other applicants.

BN: Because of the energy crisis in my country, I won't have electricity at my home from 3 to 5 PM Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays until further notice....
BN: Because of the reprogramming of the last part of the semester is not enough time, we will have to have classes two saturdays and on carnival (we have a 4 day long weekend) to make up for it.
GN: This semester should be over in a month.
GN: If I pass all my subjects I will have 4 whole weeks free from college.

GN:Tomorrow is Friday! Yay!!!!

GN: Got The Spark today. I just ordered it 3 days ago, so that was really fast!

GN: The pressure pushing on all sides of my head has gone down significantly.
BN: Still have a head/earache.

Thanks everyone! No Kerian I'm not even being considered, but what's most frustrating about the whole thing is that currently our warehouse has a young man who is training in the same position who was recruited straight out of college, without working for the company first, so the 6 month rule didn't apply to him at all. And the job posting did state that since it was a position based on qualifications and experience that those with less than 6 months could be considered, but those who had been there more then 6 months would be considered first. I guess I would've felt better if I was atleast given an interview....uughhh.

Now that my "book" (above) is finished lol.....

ejj...sorry to hear about your phone call, dealing with the IRS is not fun! good luck!

Ren...I hope you atleast get to take part in some of the carnival festivities! That would be a bummer if you had to miss all the fun! I hope the energy crises is sorted out soon!

#188: There's one near me too, but I'm not going until Sunday when it's $6/bag. Last year I walked out with 2 bags and around 40 books. :)

BN: I have exams next week and haven't been able to be on at all this week. :o( I'm probably gonna be too busy studying and stuff until Wednesday (which is my last day of exams) so just wanted to check in and say that I've been thinking of y'all!!!

GN: Three day weekend! I have a docs appt. on monday :)

GN: I took some of the money I made teaching skiing over Christmas break and bought an iTouch! I downloaded the Kindle App and now I can read books on it! I will still have real books at home, but I plan to download a lot of the free books for when I am away from home. I read several chapters of Persuasion while at an appointment today, and this was much easier to carry around than the hardcover library books I am usually reading.

Yay for Persuasion! That's definitely my favorite of the Austen books I've read. (Those who know how I feel about Austen will take that with a grain of salt I'm sure!)

GN: I've finished my hour for the LT read-a-thon. It was a lot of fun to know that I was a part of a worldwide endeavor.
GN: I'm now only about 40 pages from the end of my book.

GN: Our show sold out last night!!! We are totally in profit territory now, hich is a relief and a surprise!

BN: Eleven friends got turned away at the doors - they hadn't pre-booked and there were no seats left. Of course, this is good news in terms of our sales, but bad news - 8 of them were friends of mine from Uni :-(

BN: I'm TIRED! next day off isn't until Friday. Last one was on Monday. Argh.

BN: We had a bust-up with the guy who is the stage manager of the show immediately before us in the venue - the guy is a test of ones patience anyway, and is VERY DIFFICULT, but they over ran, causing us to be very late getting into the venue, he was an idiot, and then I flipped. He flipped back.

GN: The theatre manager heard him and was not impressed. Especially since the SM was being pretty offensive about the manager and didnt realise he was there. Ha ha!!

GN: The booksale was lovely =) For some reason though I didn't end up getting too many books. I only got 4 books for $1.50. Which is still a great price. I guess the titles weren't jumping out at me today.
However, I did get Romeo and Juliet Together (and Alive!) At Last, Bartlett and the City of Flames, and Close Kin. The 4th book I got is a present for lefty because it reminded me of her. But it's a surprise of course =)

BN: Rex woke up 7 times between 4:40 and 6:50 this morning.
GN: He's super cute, so I couldn't stay mad.

Good/awesome/fantastic/exciting/amazing news: Our church hired a new worship leader and it is a guy who did music at the church I went to while in college!!! The college church had the best music I've ever heard at any church ever and this is extra-awesome that this guy is now at our church because our church's music is, to be honest, some of the worst I've ever heard. I love our church but they desperately needed help in the music department. New guy guy takes over in February and I CAN'T WAIT!!! :D (If you all heard a typical sample of the current music played at my church, you would better understand my extreme enthusiasm.)

More Bad News- I just realized my roast that is NOW thawed is going to go to waste! OR at least not be eaten by my family. Maybe Mom will want it. 8(

I was on no chewing for about 5 days and on soft foods only for 3 more. you also want to stay away from anything acidic, like tomato soup, as it stings really bad.

you'll want ice cream without chunks for the first thing he eats after surgery, anything else is too difficult while you're still numb. you'll also want to blend heartier foods with protein, as it's needed for healing. he won't be able to have anything hot in the first day. after that you'll want hot liquids for him to drink, it helps keep the swelling under control.

the first day or two he'll want things that don't take much effort to swallow (think stage 1 babyfood consistency).

Also make sure that they give you a needle-less syringe to clean it out with. You'd be amazed at how quickly the gum can heal and if it heals over food it's not pretty (the voice of experience!)

I miss you guys! I was a little moody from work last week and thought better to not post. An old friend is also going through a bad time right now and work (which got better) has kept me fairly busy.

Good news: I opened the store in the morning by myself for the first time yesterday and it went very well. I'm feeling much more confident lately with all the extra tasks and projects. ... Me,too the cat is feeling better all the time and his hips are noticeably sunk in less every few days. ... Skin was rubbed off the back of my hand at work but my mother gave me an evasive (sounds something like that) bandage and it's so doing wonders protecting and healing my skin.

Bad news: I sneezed a half hour ago and pulled my back. I get so angry that this happens over pathetically insignificant things like that! I hate more that I have to run to work and not spend time here. Bye until tomorrow.

BN: have spent the LAST 3 DAYS testing students, getting ready for the "BIG" state-wide standardized test. Small groups of students pulled out of the general classroom b/c of learning disability, language skills deficiency, or just can't handle being in the room w/ other students. We were supposed to be finished yesterday, but we had many student who either were absent, or did so poorly they were retaking it. So I was greeted w/ the news this morning that the library would be closed again, and I'd be testing 7 students. My last student just left...worked on the same reading test from 8:15 to 2:30.

The *real* test is next month, and again in April. Oh dear, these kids are not ready, and sadly probably never will be. And the *real* test is excruciating to administer...teachers are not allowed to read, grade papers, work on lesson plans, or anything else during the testing. It is the academic equivilent of simultaneously watching grass grow and paint dry.

More BN: (actually a mini-rant) I have to go have dinner tonight w/ people I really don't want to be with (pastor visit thing)...they are nice people, I just don't wanna go. He and Jim will play chess (always fascinating for someone who has no clue about chess to watch)...she and I will watch tv I guess, which is what we did last time. worse news for a colleague I learned Monday when I went to a workshop..the middle school of the town in which I live is shutting the library down completely FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR. They will be using the space and the librarian to tutor students. Shortsighted, you think? And new language art standards require research skills beginning in kindergarten...just how will they be able to do that without access to the library?? Not only that, a library and/or certified librarian IS NOT required in this state, and many districts do not have them. Libraries are most often the first target in budget cut times. My library is small, and underbudgeted, but at least it's there and I'M there, AND a new library will be opening next year (yay!)

BN: I was going to get an iTouch with tax return money. However, my mother informed me I don't gain any money. I owed the Federal money but I had money from the state, so evidently I'm using the state money I got to pay for what I owe to the Federal government. I don't understand the system at all.

GN: It will teach me patience. I hate waiting.

BN: I'm starting to not care at all about school. Homework to do? Meh, I can do it later. Gosh I need to get my head straight.

GN: I had today off and was lazy the entire time.

I'm glad that your weekends are good

GN: I've gotten a lot of sleep this weekend. (I must have needed it -- maybe now I won't feel so tired at work this week.)
BN: It seems like I've slept my weekend away. Oh, well . . . it's not like I had anything else planned.

It was a great day. First, at church, there were friends from Norway there. Haven't seen them in years, they look good, and pretty much the same. Came home and there was a message from Holly. She wanted to meet me in Lancaster, and Bib, too. So I called Bib and she drove over and we took off for Lancaster and spent a most enjoyable day with two of my daughters and Zachary.

Church was canceled today, and school is canceled tomorrow.

BN: We decided to clean out the fridge and take out the scraps. So I was working my way out to the ravine with my hands full of scraps. I get all the way down there (remember in 7 inches of snow and ice) and fall. Slide 2 feet and twist my ankle. I can walk on it with a little limp, but it hurts really bad and even more when anything touches it or it turns any which way.
GN: We have a clean fridge.

GN/BN: We saw a truck come out yesterday. It was a state truck and it graded the road in front of our house and put down sand. Great! So we're walking to a neighbor's house down the road (about 1/2 a mile) and see that they only did it from about a 1/4 of a mile up from our house and only sanded 1/2 the street. The other streets didn't get graded. They also didn't get the corner, hills, or the first 1/2 mile of our road that goes to the highway. So it's pretty dangerous to try and get out and go to town. We think it was a state truck and they decided to come through since they had a little sand left. They must have run out of sand and decided to go home. We're out of city limits so we have to rely on the state or county to come do our roads.

Anywho...Maybe we can get to town to do some grocery shopping sometime tomorrow. Of course dad will have to drive us. ;)

BN: I have to go to work tomorrow. Although the three other colleges/universities in town are closed, as well as the local school system, our university has decided to open, albeit not until 10am.
GN: Our driveway is shoveled thanks to my husband, so at least we'll be able to get down easily. The rest of the way? We'll see...

GN: We really haven't had much snow this winter at all, which is really surprising given where I am (upstate NY). I am not missing it in the least, mind you.
BN: It has been freaking cold the last few days, though, and will be not so bad during the days, still really cold at nights for the next week at least.

GN: Nothing's broken. The doctor said he could see quite a few bone spurs in the x-rays, and that the swelling may last up to 3 weeks. He then put a interesting looking contraption on my foot (brace). It will take me forever to figure out how to put it back on when I take it off later. I now have to figure out what exercises I can do, since I can't do my normal fun ones.

GN: Sister weekend is this month and I can't wait!
GN: Hubby's trip could mean a promotion for Hubby... fingers crossed.

Good news: I went to the supermarket. I now have coffee.
Bad news: I didn't rest like I should have.

GN: our roommate arranged for Jason's best friend (who he hasn't seen in 9 months) to stop by and hang out yesterday.

GN: the realtor called and may have a renter for us (house has been empty since December, yikes!). Cross your fingers.
GN: I feel much better today...headache is gone, still a little bronchitis, laryngitis, and stuffy head, along with a nice little fever blister. It sounds like I'm still pretty sick! But I really feel pretty good. Yay! Musinex and Tylenol Sinus!

Yay! for coffee, datenight, and possible renters!

GN: the makeshift orthodic my podiatrist made actually helped and my foot is no where near as sore as it has been.
MGN: I'm getting a new tattoo on Sunday.

I-don't-know-if-this-is-good-or-bad-news: I submitted my law school applications tonight. (I applied to UA, LSU, Temple, Golden Gate, Florida A&M and Florida Coastal). I take the LSAT Sat. morning.

GN- We are starting the very scary process of house buying! Yay! We can decorate or punch holes in the walls at will! Plus, we will are trying to get a house with enough room for all of our books, craft and Rob's electronics plus an additional kid or two.

BN- I am terrified of being in debt! Any kind of debt. Good or Bad! I look at the numbers and I get kind of queasy.

GN-Buying a house was on Rob's list of things to do before 30. So he's happy as a lark.

BN- I thought maybe when I was 35 or so we could maybe buy one. *chugs Pepto from bottle*

MEM, that's wonderful! I know how you feel about the debt, but I can assure you it is worth it to have your own home. Funny, even after ten years in our own home I still catch myself saying I have to pay the rent. :o) And if you think about it, you are just exchanging a landlord for a bank.

#305 -- What JP said! I didn't expect to be in a position to buy a house as early as I did, but I'm so glad I did buy instead of renting. This is my take on it: when you rent, you pay a certain amount of money each month for the privilege of living somewhere, and after that month the money you spent is gone. When you buy, you pay a certain amount each month for the privilege of living somewhere, but you're also investing in something and building equity. (It also helps that I am paying slightly less for my mortgage each month than I paid each month for my last apartment.)

I'll join in on the wonderfulness of home ownership, though there are some drawbacks (cough, *repairs*). But one thing I noticed is that the mortgage I was paying became, within a few years, less than I would have paid to rent a comparable place. Even better, my house appreciated sufficiently that I was able to sell it, pay off the mortgage, and buy a house in a much less expensive area that I own outright. (Love the house; hate the town; that's another story.)

Ultimately, you'd be paying out money for housing--it's so much better to do it as an investment. And the tax benefits are delicious.

Aw, thanks everyone. You guys definitely sooth my frazzled nerves. I am not the kind of person that should rock her own boat very often especially when my bank account sits in the boat, too.
I'm a little disappointed that a house we like is getting bid on by someone else. We wouldn't win in a bidding war on this particular house. BUT there are plenty more houses out there. Ugh!

BN: We are supposed to get 12 to 16 inches of snow, and I will have a lot of shoveling to do. Not fun to be stuck at home by myself. Mutombu still has about 3 more weeks in Iowa.

BN: I'm having a fat day. Hrmph. :-(

GN: The author wrote two other books, which I will be looking for immediately.
BN: And sad news, too: the author delivered three books to a publisher and then died. So, no further books, and he didn't get to enjoy his success.

JN: I just got back from dinner at a place in Toronto called Didier and at the table next to mine, sitting directly across from me maybe 3-4 feet away was Daniel Craig. He was very preoccupied with his dinner partner, a young woman to whom he was being very, very attentive.

Good news: Work has been training me on a good deal of even more things lately. Just when you think you know the routine and begin to get the timing right...That makes it sound like a dance, when it's more like running a marathon. ;) The extra training has two purposes. One is to help my chances getting the promotion I want.

Bad news: The other reason is both bad and sad news. I can't yet say what it is.

B/G news: My sleep walker sister dived out of her top bunk bed during a nightmare. My youngest sister's having some minor seizures lately from missing her medicine. The doctor recommends having them swap beds and dosing the younger one (who'd missed her meds). The good news part is that for the most part my sisters are okay.

Good news: My mother gets an eight day vacation next week. She'll be home, but she's looking forward to it. Healed Me,too is slowly going to be re-introduced to the great outdoors. The little ones are going to be fixed, too. Bwahaha! We're evil cat owners, or we will be in their eyes.

GN: My friend is my age and she was aware this was going to happen eventually.
BN: I feel bad for her sister (also a very good friend of mine) who is 17 and cried a lot when her mother moved out.

FN (Funny News): Catbastet's hair scared her in the middle of the night.
Also funny news: My youngest decided to learn about crystals and gems. She told me all about cleavage (in terms of rock cleavage), which sent my mind in a different direction. I must need more sleep!

GN/BN: I got a new computer at work! This is good news because the old one had some really irritating things about it (for instance, it had one USB port on the front, which was placed so that you had to get down on your hands and knees to attach a cord or drive, because the port was at an angle, for pete's sake). It's bad news because it's running Vista and MS Office 7, so I will spend at least the rest of the week re-learning everything I used to know.

And I don't even know that I would be able to, given that I have no formal training in anything that might be useful on a permanent basis. But I ramble....

Today was the last day I got to work with my boss. She's quitting. She taught me a lot in the eight months we've had her and we're all really going to miss her. It's a hard goodbye for all of us.

Mindy...I do love it! I only have 3 apps at the moment, HP spells (which really isn't as awesome as I expected but still fun), crossword puzzles, an facebook. The "to-do" app sounds like a great idea, I find that I need lists to keep myself organized most of the time.

BN: The snow just keeps falling here! It started last night and isn't supposed to stop until tomorrow!
GN: Even though we had 13 call offs at work we still got out ontime (for once in like 2 months!) b/c everyone else has lots of snow too so no one is at work to order office supplies!

YAY MEM!!!!!!!!!!!

SQUEE!! Thank you everyone! This was the first and only house at which we looked. Awesome luck! 8) Don't worry Mandy, the perfect house is out there waiting for you. This is not a perfect house. While very sound, in the structure, the last owners, ah, had very elaborate decorating taste so all of the walls have to be repainted. The floor in the kitchen and the carpet upstairs will have to be worked on, also. We ended up with this great house that was being sold 40k under what the other neighborhood houses were going for all because of these minor cosmetic things.
I don't have a good picture of the house yet but on a sunny day I will go take one and post it. It's a two story tan and brown stone and wood house. It has four bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, fireplace and rec room in the basement. Um, the kitchen is just a bit small but it has an eat in area that we can spread out into if need be. AND the best part is it has a privacy fence around the backyard! YAY! I'm so sorry I am too happy to even talk about it!

GN: I have had word from the jungle that they are finally allowed to be a charity!!! Until now they have been have only had permission to operate as a business, which hindered cash injection hugely. SO, this means that even though I can't be physically helping out there, I can at least do fundraising projects over here for them. I can feel useful. This is good timing. :-)

GN: She was probably still in bed, she didn't come to work on Monday and the roads were fine, I doubt she would go in today.

BN: We were also in a state of emergency but m work is open and wass open yesterday.
GN: I stayed home yesterday because of the weather... I was not going to risk my life to come in just to be sent home cause we only had 3 kids.
GN: I don't have to go into work today until 130 So I can finish my homework and housecleaning so this weekend is free!

It's really hard to imagine she'll be far way for no less than six months. 8( Then hopefully she'll get stationed in Kentucky which is at least sort of close to us. She's been there for the birth of all my kids, so it's hard to know Theo will be Cole's age before she'll get out. 8(
Worse News- Her specialty will almost definitely take her overseas. 8(

GN- My other best friend and I threw her one heck of a going away party last night! I made a cake and cupcakes that looked like a set of dog tags.

Funny News- While icing her name on it I blanked and put a D on the end. Her name is Dawn so it looked like DawD. I laughed and told Cole what I did. He said, "Why don't you put cat on there instead? Then it can be cat tags." LOL
