Found: YA murder/thriller set in high school

Book series is set in high school, protagonist is a brunette, best friend of the most popular girl in school (with notably platinum blonde hair). Series starts off with blonde going home with a mystery guy after a night out, leaving the brunette a frightening voicemail and being found dead the next day-ish. I think there were about 10 books in the series, can’t remember, but the resolution being the murderer ended up being the bartender the whole time, who had been ‘helping’ out the brunette with solving her best friends murder. Book covers I remember showed the woods and caution tape, read this series in the mid-2000s. Hope someone can help!
