And now, a word from your new admin

Hello, all! The LibraryThing staff have recently made an effort to assign new admins to neglected groups, whose original creators or previous admins are no longer active on the site. When I saw no one had submitted their name to be considered, I stepped up only so we wouldn't be rudderless. In the same fashion, I find myself also the admin for the Crime, Thriller & Mystery group.

Having said that, if there is someone here who would really like to be the admin, and perhaps wasn't aware that there was a call for volunteers in time to throw their hat into the ring, I would be happy to step aside or share admin duties, as they prefer. Just let me know.

The only thing I've done so far is to pin our ongoing "What Are You Reading?" topic to the top of the message list (if you are viewing on the group's page). We are not a hugely active group, but I like the idea of it always being on top if we get a flurry of new topics.

Are there any other suggestions people have to liven up the group (assuming that is a goal)? We could have an Introductions thread, where those of us who would like to introduce ourselves and talk a bit about our favorite authors/books can do so. We could have a Links thread, where members can post links to interesting articles they find about either the authors or books that relate to British and Irish crime fiction. Or we could go on just as we have — always an option!

Please feel free to ask any questions you might have about this process below, or chime in with any ideas for new topics or discussion points. And thanks for reading this far.

Hi, rosalita, I wondered where that 'pin' had come from, 🙂.

I, personally, don't think the group needs too much livening up, as a steadfast handful of us have been happy sharing our reading stats quite regularly for the past 5 years or so, and share chit chat as we see fit. I imagine most, like me, are active on other groups, so not in need of too much 'excitement' on this one. I'd love to see what the others have to say on the matter, however.

>1 rosalita: Thanks Rosalita. I’ve been a member of this group for years but haven’t posted for ages. More activity would be good. Always looking for book suggestions.

>4 ted74ca: Thanks for adding your views, Ted. It's a good group of folks here, for sure. I don't suppose we'll ever make the "Hot Topics" lists but that's perfectly fine with me. :-)

As a member of the group that hasn't been an active poster, I'd love to see a little more activity. While I'm more active on the 2021 Challenge, which is active, mysteries is what I read 95% of the time. A group more devoted to mysteries would be great.
