We are considering using TinyCat for our volunteer-run Buddhist temple. Is it possible to allow new patrons to self register during self checkout under the Simple Circulation? We would like new patrons to be able to check out books without the assistance of a volunteer, as this library is not staffed. All we need is their name, phone, and email. We do not have a set list of members from which to preload patrons into the system. Plus, requiring a librarian to enter patrons prohibits new visitors from checking out books as well.

Unfortunately, patrons cannot add themselves to the system before being able to check books out. This is a security feature against spammers, etc. You can add/import your patrons from the Admin portal here: https://www.librarycat.org/admin/patrons.

That said, some libraries have added things like Google Forms to their homepages on TinyCat where patrons can request to be added as a patron, inputting all of their information, where the library admin can then add the patrons remotely by using data from the Form.

You could also customize TinyCat's "Ask About This" feature (which can be shown on Search and/or Detail pages in TinyCat). You can customize the name of the button, for example, and request folks to give you specific information in the Comments section of the pop-up, such as their phone number. Check out your Detail page Settings (https://www.librarycat.org/admin/settings/detail) to explore this feature, or watch our Tiny Tutorial here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAvzBjqE6n8. Hope this helps!
