À mon sujetIf I had no sense of humor, I would long ago have committed suicide.
~Mohandas Gandhi

Enjoy life. There's plenty of time to be dead.
~Hans Christian Andersen

I would be most content if my children grew up to be the kind of people who think decorating consists mostly of building enough bookshelves.
~Anna Quindlen

I have measured out my life with coffee spoons.
~T.S. Eliot

Too much sanity may be madness. And maddest of all, to see life as it is and not as it should be!
~Miguel de Cervantes

All animals except man know that the ultimate point of life is to enjoy it.
~Samuel Butler

I love reading, art, writing, yoga, juggling and facepainting.
Presently, I home educate my three children. I write a comic strip chronicling our homeschooling adventures.

À propos de ma bibliothèqueI admit it. I'm a book junkie. I can't pass a table of used books without seeing if there is anything good and I can't go to a bookstore without buying at least one thing. I have my local library system website on favorites. I was horrified by the Twilight Zone episode "Time Enough at Last" where Burgess Meredith collects every book he wants to read only to end up breaking his glasses.

I tend to list books that I love, that inspire me, or that we use regularly, so if my starring system seems skewed, that's the reason.

I liked it, but not enough to compel me to read the next book (especially since I think you said it ends in a cliffhanger?) -- hope the kids have fun!
Hey JP!

Don't worry, I'm sure the gift has arrived except that I'm not home right now and won't be 'till January 3rd. I'm kinda worried as to how many days they'll hold it before sending it back :oS

But I'm sure it'll be ok, thanks for offering to send me another one if it didn't get there though, that's very kind.

-Pico
Thanks, JP. Your kindness rocks. I adore you for being the sweet person you are. It was an excellent suggestion, and a good reminder that days near the actual Christmas day itself are all very Christmasy as well. I completely agree that packing holiday celebration in one day or two makes it harder to bear sometimes. I just really wish I could spend that day with people I love versus alone. Being alone is my worst fear. No joke. It's much better to spend it alone when everyone is alive and quite well though than for having lost those who are dear, and for them being alive and well I am thankful. I'm also thankful for having such good friends here. I hope you and your family will have a wonderful 12 days of Christmas! I like that a family I love spreads the joy of the holiday out and will have it for longer. :)
Perfect! Thanks! *wanders off but with more direction than before*
Did you have something posted somewhere about how cats and vampires are the same because of certain characteristics? I thought it was you, but now I can't find it anywhere and I can't even remember if it was on LT or facebook. Maybe you aren't even the one who posted it. I must say, it is difficult to find something when I am unsure of both the person and the place from whence it came. *wanders off looking confused*
Thank you so much for the birthday package! It was exquisite! And hilarious! I love the MsDonna wooing kit, complete with sparkles. And how fantastic is the little edward doll! That picture of the boys cuddling was just beautiful, and so is the card. Thanks for making my birthday so special :-D
So you do not think you may like my stray, Me,too's cute furry face? They probably would have charged me a lot to ship him anyways. He's a bit overfed and heavy for a stray cat.

Oh, goodness. The toothpaste! I can see how that can often be the case. There is something so irresistible about samples or anything that appears free. My youngest sister kept trying to take uncredited gift cards from stores for years. Little ones are funny. Well, at least you will never have to hunt all over for toothpaste. When each tube runs out you can tell someone that she saved the day. ;)
JP, surely you jest on your elfster 'do not need' list about cats. Heeheehee. I laughed so hard! :)
It is both smaller and larger than a bread box..... at least in its current condition....

I would love a copy, but my friend just had surgery yesterday and I was thinking of going to see her tomorrow, so I won't be able to go to Mawmawrooooowasit.
The Voracious Reader sounds like a hoot, tho! Have fun.

Yes! Let's do it! I would love to see you guys before I leave!
Ooooooh! I leave on the 20th!! I can't wait!

It's great to "see" you all too, after all this time. I feel like a total stranger to everyone and I'm sure some people are like "who is that?"

He he he.

Hey, I still have that certain something I brought you from L-town......
I somehow caught your posting re: the 'Zits' comic. I also have a mumbler - and he's only 12! I'll probably miss over half of what's he's saying in the next 6 years, is that right? I'm still learning this site (don't really understand how to communicate on it yet) so if you'd reply I'd be pleased. Whereabouts in the US do you live? I'm in the Northwest.
Thanks, Cristina! We greatly appreciate the hugs. You're very sweet, but we both already know that. :)

We are very happy today that she is safe and that no one was hurt! It blew me out of my mind. I was stumped. Never in a million years would I have thought this would happen at our high school. We live in a pretty small, peaceful city. My mother and I were slow to react, wondering how worried we should be. Seeing all the chaos near the high school definitely got us worked up.

I wasn't surprised to hear the first teen who was caught with a gun doesn't even live here, but am angry that they had to bring their violence over to our city, and into our high school. Of course, there is no telling who the mystery participants that got away are. Gangs. I wish to hurl heavy rocks at them.

*hugs*
Just dropping by to say your picture for LadyN is absolutely beautiful. That was really nice of you to draw it. :)
You're welcome. I'm just glad you thought of some of them before I wrote to you! Reading how hungry you were made me feel terrible. That sounds like the perfect thing to have after yoga to help build strength.

I'm sorry I can't remember my wisdom teeth being removed very well. It's been eleven years. I do think it's normal for at least your molar teeth to be sensitive right now, especially if there had been pressure between them and your wisdom teeth. Your teeth could be adjusting or moving slightly, in a good way. Maybe it's also possible that this pain has to do with nerves in your jaw. It's possible for us to feel pain in the wrong places sometimes. A perfect example is when I had my back surgery - while my back was fine at the hospital, my arms hurt horribly. There wasn't any reason for it but nerves, and the doctor said so. I do remember pain where the shot was given with my wisdom teeth extraction and when I had a root canal. I'd say it's worse to not get numbed up, though, without a question. You would have been in worse pain. I myself am very difficult to numb because I have extra nerves and teeth roots. My root canal was the worst pain I've ever had.

Keep healing! And I am proud of you for going in for this procedure! I know you do not like to go to dentists.
Hi, JP! How is your mouth feeling? And further, are you still hungry?

I got some food recommendations from my mom for you. She's had to rely on a lot of soft foods because of her teeth. I'm not sure how these things will sound to you. I suppose it depends on your taste buds and openness to different foods. I hope some will be helpful, though. It seems many have recommended apple sauce and yogurt already. I read a few mashed potato recommendations, too. There are also spaghettios and soups. I enjoy frozen mashed strawberries bought in packs of individual containers sold not yet frozen at grocery stores.

Otherwise, these are my mom's suggestions: She's bought meat in baby food jars (don't laugh) such as chicken and mixed it with chicken broth, sometimes with baby rice cereal, and other times in soup. Other food suggestions of hers are laughing cow cheese (I told you not to laugh ;), egg whites, scrambled eggs, and tuna fish mixed with mayonnaise. Protein shakes and Ensure (liquid nutrition) are beneficial most especially when you're unable to chew for a good amount of time.

I hope you heal quickly, are able to eat more, and are feeling better soon! Much love.
I'd love to come back, but I have something like five meetings in a row at work tomorrow (yeep!). So, I'm afraid the bagels and cookies would be stale by the time I could get enough free time to come up again -- you'd better eat them yourselves. They were yummy, though, particularly the snickerdoodles!
We made it home okay! Thanks again for your hospitality -- it was wonderful to meet you!

(And we made it out of the Bronx just fine, though Espy says he understands why you were hesitant to recommend the Cross-Bronx Expressway!) ;-)
Yep, still in Russia -- I fly home on Tuesday.
