À mon sujetPhysicist now working as a system engineer building spacecraft. Obsessive reader, interests are all over the map, always looking for good books!

I finally finished adding my library to my catalog! I'm only reviewing books as I read them, so let me know if you want an opinion about something that's rated but not reviewed.

À propos de ma bibliothèqueSome are mine, some I got from the library. I'm lucky enough to live in a county with one of the top library systems in the country, so I use it a *lot*.

hi jim, would appreciate if you can add the link to the discussion thread of the group read on The Count of Monte Cristo to the 75's group page. here is the link

thanks!
did you quit chat that fast?
So glad you & yours are safe and warm.
I will be tickled to see the pics. I wish I knew how to take pics, and put them on the computer. I know it is not difficult but I have an otherwise very generous husband who does not like ANYONE to touch his digital camera. Can't blame him. It was worth 3 house payments. So I guess I will just have to get my own or maybe he will give me his old one.
By the way, I don't know if I told you how very much I enjoyed "The Book of Three". Normally the only series I read are the Gabaldon "Outlander" books, "The Clan of the Cavebear" books, and, of course, the "Harry Potter" series, of which I have yet 2 to go. But I am so glad I made an exception here and I have a feeling that book series will be something that I will be getting into now. Also I have read very little YA. I think that this series is going to change that as well. So three birds killed with one stone, so to speak. So, thank you very much.

Hi Jim--We share roughly 10 percent of my library and I like the ones we have in common! I shall have to peruse your library for more ideas.
Thanks for the welcome. I'll enjoy skimming your library, virtually at least. Your approach of posting only the books you've read appeals to me. That's what I've done with LibraryThing as well. Most of our library is in storage temporarily during a move, so I have only a hundred or so books with me. I say a hundred or so, because the number rises by twos or threes as I find great deals (50 cents for Catch-22).
I noticed you've read Ron Sider's [Rich Christians in an Age of Hunger]. What did you think?
Hi! Thanks for the invite. I joined the 50 book challenge last year and made a sad showing of it. I'll see how I start out (have made it almost through two "Outlander" novels before the end of January, so maybe I will be up for it.

Thanks for the invite!
Thank you!
Hi Jim. A few of us have decided on a group read of Josephine Tey's Brat Farrar in the 75 Book group. Here's the spoiler-free thread: http://www.librarything.com/topic/82313#1721742 . Could you add the link on the group page?

Thanks!
hi jim, i have just created a thread for the group read for The Count of Monte Cristo. please add the link to the 75 group's page.

thanks a lot!
Here's a digital copy of Fechner, with James's introduction:

I found your review of Ghosthunters interesting, as I recently read Fechner's Life After Death, the most interesting portion of which was William James's Introduction. I suppose it never clicked for me before that James was so interested in paranormal phenomenon. I wonder if Fechner is mentioned in the Blum book?
Thank you sir!
Jim, will you add the link to the mini bio ( introduce yourself) thread to the group info?
pretty please?

Hi, Jim!
I was wondering if you would be so kind as to add this link to the Group Read for [The Picture of Dorian gray] when you set up the 2010 75 book challenge group. A bunch from the 1010 Challenge are going to be reading it starting in January and we would love to have more participants. It's alwasys more fun wiyth a large group - more ideas being shared.

Thanks.

P.S. did you get much sniow this weekend? Hasppy Holidays!
So do you think there's going to be a 75 in 2010 group? I've just about given up on challenge threads - they're interesting, but I feel way too constricted. I want to pick up and read a book cause it's something I want to read, not because i need it to meet some challenge. Would love to join a group like this for next year...the parameters you established this year were perfect.

Hah...anything can be made better with the addition of zombies! :)
you asked on a comment thread a few days about [Dracula: the Undead] By Dacre Stoker. It's awful, but strangely enjoyable, because it is so unbelievably bad.
Well I'm back from 3 months of concentrated LIFE -- I'm afraid I skipped 177 messages on your second thread... I just couldn't do it! I *know* I missed all sorts of goodies. The rest of the year looks pretty clear and I'm looking forward to staying current :)
Hi Jim;
I've been enjoying the 75 book challange but it always takes me a while to find my section so I could post the next book.
Is it possible to alphabetize the group members to make it easier? Possibly grouping them in sections of the alphabet would be convenient i.e. a-e, f-k etc.
Just thought I'd ask.

Mike Draper
oops LOL it appears I'm being repetitive ;->
Back at ya brother :)
To you too, m'dear. Nice to find a friendly message when I got back from physical therapy.
Thx and back at ya!
Too late. I'm already your friend. (I'm honored, anyway.) Hugs to you and Denita. Mary Lou
Jim,
I'm finishing up my second book on Monroe James Monroe: A Quest for a National Identity and then I have John Quincy Adams : A private Life, A public Life by Paul Nagel. In between I have Wedding of the Waters, a book about the making of the Erie Canal in the timespan around Monroe and JQA. I am so thrilled that this little quest that my sister and I started has blossomed into this great group - we never imagined that so many people would be this interested. I think it's great!

Stick with the O's we get back to the series sometime.
Thanks Jim!
