I'm almost finished my doctorate in linguistics. I hope to finish some time this year. Other interests include historical and social dancing, steampunk, urban fantasy, all things Joss Whedon and as many books as I can get my hands on.

I'm so sorry that you haven't received a penpal letter from me yet! I honestly have it written & sealed, but every day, by the time I've got a second to run to the P.O., I look at the clock and they're already closed! Such is the nature of the beginning of the semester, as I'm sure you're well aware. I'm going to do my best to get myself (and your letter) there tomorrow - you *will* get a letter soon!

PS: I received your postcard yesterday - lovely!
PPS: It seems kind of silly/funny to be sending you a note apologizing for not, uh, sending you a note - lol!

Thanks for the welcome! Yeah, Russia's kind of been a life long obsession of mine, which then spread to East Europe and the Middle East, then after taking a class on north-central Eurasia this winter, it kind of further established itself. ^_^ Now I just have to get the money to travel, or find a job that allows it, or something!

Yeah, that's what i've been doing for the same reasons, too costly to print. But i just don't find myself using ebooks that much. I scanned like a demon because i was going overseas and wanted to take books without having to lug around a library. But i still find myself using the few paper books i have with me, and not minding the extra weight even when i'm climbing through snow with my packs. Unevolved i guess, i still want paper.
I hope to see what other gems second hand bookshops in the uk and ireland might yield if i ever get there.

lol *immitates Hot Fuzz immitating Keanu Reeves from Point Break by shooting into the air* AAAAAAAAAARGHHHHHHH! Well, yeah, I suppose I did beat you to it, but only by accident. I wrote these articles between 2000 and 2004. It's nice to see they still hold some value at least.

I did always expect you to publish something, in about 50 different languages, which you translated yourself, or maybe it would just be a book IN 50 different languages. Hmm, perhaps I could do that with programming languages ... :P
