Huge loss to Lincoln, Nebraska À mon sujetWhen you browse through my book shelves, you will quickly notice I have a very large interest in gardening and botany. The photo is part of my garden and the iris is 'Prince George'. A row of peonies is in the background. Irises, peonies, clematis, daylilies, cannas, and bulbs are particular interests, but I also grow a wide range of other perennials, shrubs and trees. I am deeply involved in various iris groups and am a member of several other gardening groups as well. À propos de ma bibliothèqueMy library has a great deal of cataloguing yet to be done. I have but a small part of it on LibraryThing. It is a collection that focuses on a few topics such as gardening, botany, exploration, historical novels, etc., though there are books on a wide variety of other subjects as well. I'm glad you got back to me. Please let me know when you put up more books. Cataloguing old books is hard work. I have not summoned up enthusiasm to finish off my collection. There aren't that many left, but mostly foreign language and LT is not that good at this. But if your books have US or UK barcodes then I strongly recommend that you get a cat scan - works like magic ... if only!
I just looked up Nebraska climate on Sunset - either zone 1 or 40 something. Either way I'm impressed. I did my masters in Massachusetts - so I now what cold is. I think that I would be a strictly woody plant fan in such a climate.
Most of my gardening is done in Madeira. I'll put a link on my profile page to some photos of gardens that I have designed. Look at plant monograph tag on my library - here you will find books on daylilies and Iris. Clematis I love too. Grew them as a kid (Canterbury, UK) but they are better on limey soils - here (Sintra is granite, Funchal basalt) our pH is too low.
Now that the snow is coming you can cultivate your shelves!
